The Canadian Hampshire
Current consumer demand for leaner pork
has placed an emphasis on the Hampshire.
This meat type, well muscled pig has been developed to provide good carcass muscling and when used in a crossbreeding program, there is evidence of superior carcass quality in the offspring.
The modern Hampshire excels in producing a lean, meaty carcass. They are black in color with a white belt around the body that includes the shoulder and front legs.
