WE
GATHER AS GOD'S PEOPLE:
--Lighting the Christ Candle
--Acknowledging the
Territory:
People have lived on this land for thousands upon thousands of years.
This land on which we gather is the traditional land of the Anishinaabe (the Ojibwe or Chippewa Nation), the
Haudenosaunee (the Iroguois, and the Oneida Nation), the Lenape (the
Delaware People), the Attawandaron (the Neutral Nation or Algonquin
People) and the Wendat (Huron People). We worship the Creator on this
land and acknowledge with respect the thousnads of years of ceremony and
relationship that are etched in footprint, fire, and faithfulness on the
soil and rock that surrounds us. From P. Chynoweth,
Gathering, Pentecost 1 2023).
